Event Spotlight: Golf Tournament

June 30, 2019

There were fears that dreary, rainy weather might dampen the Griffith Centers for Children Annual Golf tournament, but when June 6th 2019 came along there were sunshine and smiles on Bear Dance Golf Course. The weather isn’t what made the day special. What made the day special was that golfers were there to support the thousands of children, youth and families that Griffith Centers empowers every day — including youth like Brad*.

Brad had just graduated the prior day from Griffith Centers’ high school. During the Golf Tournament, Brad shared his story of having had no dreams or goals when he started living at Griffith Centers. With guidance and encouragement from the dedicated staff at Griffith Centers, he now aspires to be a chef in the United States Army.

Many stories of young men aging out of the child welfare system involve homelessness, joblessness, illness, incarceration and welfare dependency.  We are proud and delighted that Brad’s story is different.

Griffith Centers for Children Chins Up  transforms the life stories of thousands of children, youth and adults every day. Thank you to all of our Golf Tournament Sponsors, volunteers and GCC staff for making our 2019 Golf Tournament more than a sunny day but a day of smiles and hope for the future.
