Treatment and Learning Center (TLC)

Each child placed at Griffith Centers for Children arrives with extremely diverse and individualized treatment and education needs. To provide each child the proper level of treatment and containment, without frequently transferring him to other settings as his needs change, we have developed an extensive continuum of inpatient and community services.

Within this array of services, T.L.C. provides innovative clinical interventions for children in crisis. Frequently during critical periods in the treatment process, children become unsafe to themselves and others. During such critical phases of care, effective outcomes can best be achieved within our network of services. The Intensive Treatment and Learning Center provides children in crisis with high quality, secure, cost efficient therapeutic services.

The T.L.C. program provides the following service features:

  • Single lockable rooms
  • Secure outdoor recreation area
  • Mini computer lab
  • Self contained special education classes
  • Highly structured daily programming
  • One to 3 staff to child ratio
  • Escape delayed perimeter doors
  • Self contained meal service
  • Twenty-four hour admission capability
  • Inpatient non-emergency medical and psychiatric services
