Griffith Centers for Children |
We believe that all lives, and most importantly those of the Griffith Centers for Children children and families, are significantly enhanced by the guidance and healing of God. One of the guiding principles of the Griffith Centers for Children is to value the health of children and families’ mind, body and spirit. It is therefore our policy and mission that the children we care for be encouraged to explore and practice their beliefs regarding the existence, character, and nature of God. It is our intent to honor the families' and referring agent’s desires, beliefs, and/or policies. The children are encouraged to participate in religious education, explore their personal understanding of God, express their personal faith and apply moral principles to their lives in our nondenominational programs. In this vein, the Griffith Centers for Children provides the children with numerous opportunities to meet their spiritual needs while in placement. These activities may include Wilderness trips with a spiritual emphasis led by our Spiritual Activities Director, Worship services led by community volunteers, Spiritual study groups and youth groups, Participation in community service projects, One-to-One mentoring and discipleship, Moral development, and values clarification activities. Over the past ten years volunteers have provided traditional Christian services for interested youth. Griffith Centers for Children staff and volunteers have also coordinated off-campus attendance at community churches for holidays, and special occasions. The opportunity to experience the love and support of the faith community is vital to the success of the children we serve as they return to their homes and communities. |
